Simply Vera

(Click on blue links for items.)

I was strolling through Kohl's the other day and saw this beautiful floral summer dress from Vera Wang's summer collection for "Simply Vera" . It has four navy panels to create dimension and movement and is perfect for the day straight into the night. I dressed this down to work last week by wearing a denim vest to add some texture, paired with my favorite ankle boots by Hinge from Nordstrom. This outfit will probably be on repeat again and again this summer and I'm not even ashamed to say it. Ha.

When I Met You in the Summer.

Top: Joie
Bottoms: Levi's 501
Watch: Micheal Kors
Bracelets: Alex and Ani

It's that time of year for being tan, short shorts, open toed shoes and summery tops. I wear my Levi's 501 shorts with everything and anything, all day everyday. I paired it with this beautiful silk Joie top with an embroidered scalloped sleeve detail to make the outfit more sophisticated and feminine. My shoes for the summer are theses amazing Dolce Vita studded leopard sandals. Yes, the leopard print is made with a hairy sort of material. I consider leopard print shoes to be a neutral so it can be worn with all colors and prints.

On a side note, this style of sandal is a great second option to the Birkenstock. I tried the whole Birkenstock style, but it did not work out so well with me; it made my legs look short and stocky...nobody wants that. So when I found these, I loved how they were more sleek and who wouldn't love the studded sole?

Texture

I love to play with textures and my two favorites to mix are leather and denim. The edginess of the leather paired with the casual cool of the denim creates a pair that compliments one another so well. I topped the outfit off with one of my favorite shoes that I found for a great deal at the Nordstrom Rack. Also decided to wave my fair for the first time since it's been short and to be honest, I'm kind of a fan of my hair at the moment. I might do this wavy thing for awhile until I become sick of it.

With that said, New York Fashion Week has been underway and I'm super excited to share my favorite looks and collections! Stay tuned!

Cobalt

My mom bought me this beautiful long cobalt wool coat from a random boutique when she went to NYC. I was really proud of her. I wanted the jacket to really pop so I wore a neutral palette that consisted of this really cute pastel pink tiered dress and to incorporate texture I put on a fitted faux fur vest. To top off the look I added a floppy felt hat and a pair of simple nude heels. I'm currently obsessed with Alex and Ani bracelets and I have yet to add more to my collection. If you don't know about them please look them up. It's one of those things where when you start and can't stop. Help me please.

Lost and Found

After profusely looking for my leather jacket, alas, I found it! Wore it to work the other day with a white V-neck, boyfriend jeans, plaid shirt tied around the waist and my favorite ankle strap heels. 90's grunge chic can you say?

Day Off

.

Nothing is better than a day off and putting on your favorite jeans, a white tee, a flannel, and your favorite fall boots to run around in. I covered up my obvious bed head with my over-sized knit hat and I don't think anyone noticed.

I finally had a day to catch up on.....laundry. Woke up early this morning to see my little sister off for school then ran quick errands that needed much to be done. Came home made lunch for my beautiful friend Natasha and I and just had girl time in the afternoon since we haven't been in each other's presence in so long. Now here I am sitting at my usual spot in Panera studying drinking hazelnut coffee instead of a latte because their expresso machine is down. Like seriously? I need my expresso.

The Sweater Weather Post

Three words: I. Love. Sweaters. Over-sized sweaters that is. I can't stress enough how hard it is for me this year to find the perfect sweater, but I finally found the winner for $20 at H&M which is such a steal. Rather than wearing it with leggings and classic tall boots, I decided to have fun with it by wearing a white skirt from a suit set of mine. This dresses down the skirt, but dresses up the sweater at the same time so you have the perfect combination of dressed up casual. Adding the knee high socks with my ankle boots and my favorite hat of course completes the whole look by giving it a sense of coziness. In the meantime, the hunt continues for more sweaters.

Autumn Essential

Autumn is finally here! I felt the chill in the air today and was so ready to pull out all of my fall clothes. The one essential I must have for Autumn is a great (faux) fur vest. I got this one from H&M last season and am obsessed with it because of how its so simple and fitted. It doesn't make me look like Chubaka.
To make my classic white button down more interesting I buttoned it and tied it at the bottom into a knot. Then I paired it with the vest and wore these amazing two toned pants; leather in the front, knit in the back. Finish it with a great pair of minimalist heels and a hat and you're set to go.

Hello Stranger.

Hello Hello. I know I've been gone for so long. My life has been crazy, BUT I AM BACK. This past Labor Day I ventured off to the state of 10,000 lakes (Minnesota) for my cousins wedding. We drove 16 long hours and made it there and back safely. It was really great seeing all of the family celebrating together since we are all spread out across the U.S.
I snagged this turquoise/jade, ethereal , asymmetrical dress from BCBG Maxazria for the wedding. I fell in love with it instantly and paired it with black and gold accessories and my two strap nude heels from Zara.

Day to Night.

Day.

This weekend I ventured out to Atlantic City with my cousins to celebrate my birthday (May 17th) and my Graduation. Yes, Yes, I finally graduated with an Associates in Fashion Design (Pictures of graduation will be posted later.) When we arrived, check in time was at 4, but we were able to check in right at 10 which was a huge relief. We grabbed lunch, went to the Jacuzzi, then had dinner at Buddakan then ended the night at Harrah's pool after dark party.

Buddakan was such an amazing experience and I recommend the food to everyone. Favorite dish of the night was the shrimp. PERFECTION all around. Harrah's was so much fun; great music, good company, and good drinks. I met Ian Ziering from the original cast of 90210 AND I was the FIRST girl he picked to dance on stage!!!! I CAN. NOT. dance to save my life so my moves consisted of bending my knees while moving my hips and occasionally flailing my arms around. No seduction, just pure awkwardness. It was still an amazing time.

Outfit wise I chose really simple pieces while at the same time still making a statement. Day outfit (above) high-waisted dark skinnies with a simple scoop neck crop top and a chambray to complete the outfit. Currently obsessed with my new Jeffrey Campbell cut out ankle boots that my beautiful and annoying boyfriend bought me. Thanks boyfriend! For dinner at Buddakan I wore an ethereal type of dress from Urban Outfitters. This dress was a steal; originally $119 and I got it for $20. My kinda deal. I like to call the dress my "fairy" dress because I feel like I need fairy dust to follow me around when I wear it. hehe. Again wore the Jeffrey Campbells to give it a nice edgy contrast. My night outfit was a knit neon green bodycon dress from TopShop. I fell in love with the color and the little cut out in the front. I wore my Nine West black patent ankle boots to complete the look. I wonder what I'll do next year for my birthday now....

Dinner.

Night.

All In Good Company

Hello Loves! My last class was on Monday so before that my friend Geovanny and I went out to get Rita's Italian Ice to celebrate an extremely successful semester. Now I just have to wait another week to officially graduate! So excited an proud of myself! Today was a relaxing day off. I went Mother's Day shopping and had a late lunch, early dinner with my beautiful friend Natasha. I threw my favorite chambray over my outfit which completed the look. Outfit post is below. We feasted over spicy chicken parmesan wings and Bruschetta (spelling?) topped with mint Mojitos. NOM. Right now I'm on this HUGE health and work out kick so you can guarantee I went home and burned off all the calories I pretty much inhaled.

Park Vibes

This past weekend was somewhat relaxing. I woke up at an ungodly hour on Saturday to get ready for work and somehow managed to run on caffeine only. I got off at three so that was the upside of getting off that early. After that I headed over to the park for a cousins birthday and decided to do a mini shoot with my cousin and the two photo's above are the results. Since it was so early in the morning I slipped on an easy midi tee dress, tied a chambray shirt around my waist to break up the stripes and tied my crazy hair into a knot bun sort of thing which amazingly turned out okay. I usually am in some sort of heel, but there was no way I was going to wear heels that early in the morning.

Currently, it's a super dreary rainy day and I am sitting in Barnes and Noble at the Starbucks and am thinking of different types of posts to add to this blog. Possibly a "Must Have" list for spring is in mind and will be posted in the near future. School is ending soon so I better get back to this final project. Must write a business pitch to win this competition in class! Need. That. A.

Happy Late Love Day

Happy Late Love Day to everyone. My Valentine's Day was super normal, but sweet at the same time. It consisted of me waking up at 6 AM for class at 9 (I commute and hour and 20 min), and going to work from 3 until close. Right before I started working my beautiful boyfriend surprised me with roses he sent to the store and it just so happened that I was on the phone with him at the same time when I received them which made it even more special. Later on that night I treated myself to champagne truffles due to chocolate covered strawberries being sold out everywhere on Earth.
